EXAMPLES OF PAST RECEIPIENTS

The Foundation has funded numerous projects and programs since 1968. Several recent projects include:

  • Common Justice, $20,000
    Common Justice, the Vera Institute's newest demonstration project, innovative approach to mental health consequences of violent crime. It is the first project of its kind in the country to systemically divert serious and violent crimes to participatory processes, and among the first alternatives to incarceration in America to focus on cases involving violence. Emphasis on young men of color whose needs as crime victims are currently unmet.
  • New Alternatives for Youth, $10,000
    On-site mental health services for disadvantaged children with complex medical and mental health conditions. Services specifically tailored to meet needs of low-income children and families who are experiencing severe medical, emotional, mental health and socio-economic and socio-environmental issues.
  • The Animation Project, $10,000
    3D Animation Group reaches youth involved in the juvenile justice system within their communities, at secure detention centers, the Department of Probation, and alternative –to-incarceration programs. Offers community-based, research-oriented, and outcome driven programming with focus on mental health by integrating emerging digital arts technologies.
  • Graham Windham, $20,000
    Support for their innovative Manhattan Mental Health Center's at-risk Harlem youth treatment program.
  • Legal Aid Society, Kathryn A. McDonald Project, $15,000
    Helps parents, foster parents and child welfare professional protect special education rights in foster care.
